Hey Everyone,
It's been awhile since the last newsletter, I hope the end of summer is going well for everyone. The leaves suddenly started to change color a few weeks ago but there's still plenty of green and still some hot days, even swam in the fjord last week.
Not much has happened in the last month. We've been picking lots of plums, pears, and apples, lots. Also, we've been feeding twelve sheep who wandered down from the mountains and are staying in the barn. They're funny creatures and they've been getting more and more friendly. My favorite is #9056 but #9055 is kinda grumpy and unfriendly (seriously).
This weekend Robby, the other working-guest, and I took a really nice boat ride down the fjord to Bergen and stayed over night at a hostel. Bergen was a really cool and pretty city. There some areas with old wooden houses and cobblestone alleyways as well lots of parks with fountains and statues to just chill at. There was also a food festival with booths giving away lots of free samples. But the best part was the fish market right on the harbour with people selling all kinds of amazing (and disgusting) fish (including whale). Around the people selling actual fish was also people selling all kinda of Norwegian crafts, foods, furs (including baby seal), and art. Some of the things people had were amazingly well done and beautiful. There were some stones that had amazing colors and some wooden boxes carved so finely and beautifully. There were also lots of clever funny things and many statues of ugly trolls.
So, I've been saying 'We've been picking pears' and 'We went to Bergen' but actually Robby left today for school in Belgium, so: I've got the whole house to myself!/I'm all alone in the house! Ya, I'll miss just joking around and chatting with him. With that in
mind, anyone who wants to send a letter to a lonely American in Norway, that'd be awesome. (I did meet this really smart and cute girl in Sogndal, who just recently became single and gave me her phone number.. but forget that if it'll make you less motivated :)
Well, that's the news from Lake Leikanger, where the men are strong, the women are definitely good looking and all the foreigners are above average...
all the best,
