This is Eli Gerzon's dictionary featuring words he or others have coined, interesting words from other languages, and unusual definitions for common words. Many definitions are merely in good fun and need not be taken very seriously.

farang - (Thai word) foreigner; word non-Asian visitors and residents to Thailand will hear often, sometimes even from close Thai friends

gaijin - (Japanese word "guy-jean") foreigner; word non-Asian visitors and residents of Japan will hear often

gambatte - (Japanese word "gam-bat-tay") imperative form of verb "gambarimasu" literally meaning "be strong under the pressure"; often translated as "Good luck!" or "Do your best!", while often used in the same contexts "be stong under the pressure" may give better indication of spirit of word and part of the Japanese spirit as a whole

geil - (German slang) literally means "horny" but usually used to indicate something or someone is cool, sexy, highly attractive

gezellig - (Dutch word) word that Dutch people will indicate when asked if there are any words in Dutch that cannot be translated; best approximation is English word "cozy" but is apparently beyond that and can cover any sort of setting when certain feeling is reached with group of people; possible translation may be when one is surrounded by kindness, warmth, and good humor of Dutch people and none of them are criticizing anything or anyone

homeschooler - someone who wins spelling bees, who scores highly on standardized tests, and who many people imagine has poor social skills and sometimes does

homeschooling - 1. the educational approach whereby someone of school age does not go to school full-time; 2. the educational approach where a school structure is created in the home and students are taught by their parents or tutors

kawaii - (Japanese word) cute or pretty; something that is of utmost importance to Japanese people and of which they are masters

sacred anxiety - (coined by Robert Gerzon) anxiety one experiences when confronted with overwhelming power of life and death or when asking unanswerable questions like "Who am I?", "What is the meaning to life?", and "Why is American Idol so popular?"; see "natural anxiety" and "toxic anxiety"

stranger - what each person is to most people on the earth

toxic anxiety - (coined by Robert Gerzon) 1. something that needs to be laughed at 2. anxiety often masking itself as natural anxiety but is often voice in ones head that repeats unhelpful, negative messages 3. voice of Eli Gerzon's mother in his head (J/K Mom. unschooler - a force to be reckoned with

unschooling - educational approach whereby the student guides his/her own education and life; often referred to as a more radical version of "homeschooling"

worldschooler - one who makes use of all resources around one and makes and learns from own mistakes

worldschooling - educational approach whereby whole world is ones school and one guides ones own education and learns from the environment around, beyond, and inside of oneself
